E?voice in the digitalised workplace. Insights from an alternative organisation

Digitalisation permeates all aspects of organizational life, especially the ways we communicate with each other. Drawing on a case study an alternative organisation—the German collective Premium, which is almost entirely digitally organised—we seek to explore contextual factors that facilitate or hinder expression electronic voice (e-voice). Based 20 semi-structured interviews different members collective, identified various facilitators and barriers e-voice expression: Collective belief in value diverse voices, cautious online complementary face-to-face communication e-voice, while less formalised structures, power knowledge asymmetries, information overload it. These findings demonstrate despite organisation's firm intention self-reflective efforts create inclusive participatory digital space, tensions arise. Further, our contributes employee theorising by outlining are specifically relevant practices.
